FunkGrazer

Your Burning Hearth community joined Burners from around the globe to save Black Rock City. On September 17th 2020 the Burning Man Organization released a call for help campaign to raise $1,500,000 by the end of October to save the organization from detrimental losses after the cancellation of Burning Man 2020 due to Covid-19. Burning Hearth was quick to action spreading the word, creating awareness, and organizing their first fundraiser.

The event titled “Funkgrazer” teamed up with playa favorite international DJ Edmundo Landgraf who performed live from the Hearth House on Donner Lake. Live Streaming the group joined the Unisom Stream Zoom Party projecting for over 24 hours of dance music from talented Bay Area DJs and performers.

Donors gathered for a weekend of socially distanced fun, feasts, and philanthropy. Guests were overjoyed to find one of the many 400sqft outdoor spaces had been transformed into the “Serenity Deck” an art installation and sound bath experience by Sunya Whitelight. The Artists works were posted online and sold with 50% of all purchases going to the cause.

Between donor funds and our matching funds, we contributed $6054 to BurningMan.org as a result of the BH FunkGrazer. We are honored to see our community join #savebrc. BM not only made it to their $1,500,000 goal, but exceeded it.

This campaign was a critical piece of the puzzle to getting each of us back to our home in the desert. Congratulations to the Burner community, and we are grateful for everyone who contributed.
